In a ground breaking decision, the Supreme Court has ruled this morning that the Employment tribunal fees introduced by the government in 2013 are unlawful.

The consequence of this decision is that from today the fees will no longer be payable to bring a claim in the employment tribunal and all fees already paid must be reimbursed.

Following the introduction of tribunal fees there was a 79% reduction in claims submitted and therefore it is widely anticipated that the number of tribunal claims will now increase.
